The Partnership was created in April 2001 under a scheme introduced by the Department of Transport for the purposes of reducing the incidence and severity of road traffic collisions through the deployment of safety cameras. The reduction can be achieved through changing driver behaviour and attitude by the use of information, education, engineering and enforcement. Safety cameras are positioned at fixed sites and mobile camera units are deployed at locations which have a significant 3 year casualty history and evidence of excessive speed or red light non compliance.
Norfolk Safety Camera Partnership operates across the whole of the county's road network to maintain the safety of Norfolk's road users, our emphasis is to reduce road casualties and we therefore spend our time at sites identified as sites where casualties occur.
